Medical Alert Animals

Medical Alert Animals

All medical alert animals are trained to meet each handler's specific needs. For diabetes alert animals, this may include spit training to ensure appropriate alerts to lows, retrieving juice and getting help.

Our pup Tansey consistently alerts faster than his handler Lowell's glucose monitor. Once, when he was miles away from Lowell, Tansey alerted to an issue with Lowell's insulin pump. Despite the distance, Tansey's behavior warranted enough attention that a call was made to check on Lowell. Sure enough, Lowell's pump had pulled out. He was in crisis and didn’t know it. But Tansey did!

Another pup, Chase, helped to keep his handler, Liz, alive while she waited for a pancreas by alerting to extreme, swift, changes in blood sugar.

We have had great success in medical alerts including fever alert.
